My heart has a secret door
And there are very few it opens for.
It might be for a lifetime, or a season
Or maybe just for one specific reason.
My mind likes to think it’s in control
But truth is, I never know for whom the hinges of my heart will roll.

darkness is arrogant
Filling the universe
Moving across the face of this earth
It wants to be all encompassing
It has forever tried to overpower Light
darkness is subtle
You may have heard it’s whispers
In gossip or inappropriate comments
darkness is bold
You may have heard it’s shouts
In various groups demanding equality
darkness is violent
You may have seen it’s destruction
In mass killings, racism, war, hate
darkness is diverse
You may have seen, heard or felt it
In books, movies, speeches, Conversations, charitable organizations
darkness takes good things
Twists them and uses them for bad
Religion , sex, music, art, the internet
darkness will continue
To try and subdue Light
Light will always shine through
Light walked among us centuries ago
And darkness comprehended it not
When the time is at hand
Light will return
Completely encompassing all beings
And the land
Then darknesses may comprehend

I miss the way you feel
falling on my skin.
I miss watching you float
gently on the wind.
I miss the cool weather

Making snow angels with you
is hard to resist.
Our time together
was way too short.
Perhaps one day
we can have more.
For now Florida
is my port.

of any sort.

Feel the warmth of my smile
