Crows Feet 2

Crows feet

Prancing

Dancing

On my roof

In the trees

On the street

Smart little birds

Communicating without saying a word

Scavengers

Messengers

What omen to impart

Are you telling me

To open up my heart

Or keep it closed

Locked down tight

As you take your flight

Will you return

Or leave me here to burn

In speculation

What is your destination

What is mine

I’ve lost all sense of time

Yet time marches on

Crows feet

Prancing

Dancing

On a more sensitive surface

The surface of my skin

Smart little birds

Communicating without saying a word

Crows Feet 1

Spring is almost here

Fall reflects itself in my mirror

The crows feet upon my face

Have left their dubious trace

Spring is drawing near

The fever to roam familiar

The crows feet mark a warning

Not many days left will be dawning

Spring, when it comes each year

Brings reminders of youth

And lack of fear

The crows feet get deeper

Reminders that a good life is cheaper

Than one lived on the edge

Always teetering on a ledge

You vs You

Same old story

The couch won out

I was on a roll

Then I got worn-out

Took a few days to recoup

Turned into months

Where did all that time go?

Now I’m feeling really stupid

All my fitness progress

Got lost in a few moments

The older I get the harder it is

To dedicate time

To go to the gym

I know

The battle is all in my mind

Well, my dear cousin Debora

Has inspired me

To start over again

It won’t be easy

I might be slow

But all I have to do now

Is get my butt off the couch

And go

Knowing she is doing the same

Will keep me moving

Even if it’s in the slow lane

I’ve set a goal

Squats, planks, running

And handstands

Yes, handstands

By my birthday

In mid-May

Telling myself

“You can do it!

No, you’re not too old!”

Live Life

The hardest part is deciding

Deciding how I would really like

Like to life my life

Life has taught me hard lessons

Lessons of not attaching

Attaching to things or people

People come and go

Go and leave dreams broken

Broken dreams make it hard

Hard to decide how

How I would really like to live my life

Life was made to be lived

Lived to the fullest including pain

Pain eventually fades

Fades and gives way to hope

Hope in the future and a better time

Time to decide

Decide and imagine

Imagine and live

Live life to its fullest

Anywhere You take me

Sand between my toes

Can sun streak grey hair?

Snow falling on my nose

Lots of memories to share

Ocean breezes

Sing me to sleep

Rain falls on tin

Making a rhythmic beat

Mountain ranges

Brilliant colors

Stoney caverns

Lakes of blue

Anywhere

You take me

I will always go
