Damn Hard

Life ain’t always beautiful

Sometimes

It’s damn hard

There are moments

I may feel like giving up

But

It’s just not in my blood

So

I give myself a swift kick

In the keister

Jerk my attitude

Back into the right shape

And

Determine to do

Whatever it takes

Waiting for a Flight

Flying during major holidays

Is not the wisest choice

Advised my all too familiar

Still small voice

But it’s my dad’s birthday

And my mother’s too

I haven’t been home in months

It seemed like the thing to do

Now flight delays

Causing airport stays

Has me thinking

There has to be a better way

I was supposed to land

In Florida last night

But here I sit in Georgia

Still waiting for a flight

Tequila Fairy Tail

It’s been my experience that a lost shoe around the midnight hour has more to do with too much tequila than it has to do with an enchanted fairy tail, a handsome prince, or happily ever after. But you turned it into an entertaining fantasy enjoyed by millions. Well played Cinderella well played.

Wire Mesh is not My Friend

These may look like harmless rolls of wire mesh, but when stretched out, waiting for concrete to pour, wire mesh becomes my heartless enemy.

Our love-hate relationship goes back a long way. Many decades ago we came to an agreement:

If I don’t walk on wire mesh then

wire mesh won’t trip me.

Well folks, today I was in a hurry and convinced myself that

I could do it. I could walk across the prepped driveway without getting tangled up in it. The wire mesh lay there calmly stretched out, only a few small humps and bumps here and there. It was almost quietly encouraging me.

Ignoring the still small voice shouting in my ear “don’t do it!”

I placed the ball of my foot

on the wire mesh itself (not inside the square) and haltingly made it across. Smiling with relief as I stepped out of the potential trap I chided the small voice inside “see, I can do it”. Job-site information was gathered then I headed back to my truck.

As I went to step across the form and onto the wire mesh the still small voice said “walk around, don’t do it!” But again I ignored the voice. My recent crossing victory had me feeling confident. Then my phone rang.

And ignorantly I answered it and kept walking. Wire mesh saw an opportunity in this distraction. My steps were no longer careful. One step inside a square and wire mesh grabbed my toe. Turning me end over elbow.

As I heard that still voice inside me say “I told you so.”

“Only my pride was injured in the filming of this real life episode.”

Accountability

Accountability is one thing that can make the difference between being good or being unstoppable; as an individual or as a business. The newest generation of the workforce was not taught accountability. They are ignorant of how important it is. Their ignorance makes growing a successful company more difficult than it should be. And it makes retirement a target I long for.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Happy Father’s Day!

It may seem silly to some that I chose to include You in the celebration of this national holiday. The world has gotten so good at trying to exclude You from all things, please for give us for allowing even the discussion of Your exclusion to occur. Thank You for Your grace and Mercy; Your love; Your generosity; Your Word and it’s interpretation through the Bible; Your Holy Spirit dwelling in me and anyone who believes.

You have lifted me out of dark places so many times, given me hope when it seemed like all was lost, comforted me, made me laugh, and filled my heart with unspeakable joy. You have shown me that what is Yours is mine, if I believe.

Help me Lord, show me how to make You smile, show me how to fill Your heart with joy.

I love You so very much.

Amen

No Obligation

You are under no obligation

To be the person you were

Five minutes ago

This is your life

The footprint you leave

On this world

Is yours to impart

The entire universe is impacted By the choices you make

Your belief can move mountains

Your thoughts

Create your experience

What will you create

What mountain will you move

How will you impact the universe

Do you like who you are

Yes, great

No, change yourself

Stop waiting for “when”

When is NOW

Grab hold of your thoughts

Grab hold of life

And

Wring the living daylights

Out of it
