For a work trip
To Austin, Texas
Isn’t what you would call
Glamorous
No vintage car
Just a plain work truck
No fancy luggage
Just a truck bed filled
With a custom forklift extension
And the trailer
Hitched behind me
Isn’t laden
With dresses of Tulle
All you will find
Is an assortment
Of carpentry tools
No stilettos or
Makeup can be seen
Just a pair of work boots
Tee shirt, jeans and
A tube of sunscreen
Sometimes
I long for a day
I can dress up in heels
Put on some makeup
And go for a leisurely drive
With someone I love
But that day
Is not
Today
