We all have conversations with ourselves. Usually there is one part of us wanting to believe in something, take action toward it, but an opposing thought pops up skeptically trying to convince us the effort won’t be worth the reward.
Charlie Brown often vacillated between pessimistic and optimistic thinking but in the end he always looked past obstacles and found something positive to hold onto.
Today, I will embrace his optimism (and ignore Snoopy thoughts).
Find your bucket. There is a deep well that only you can access. Within it you will find words, music, art, crafts, a plethora of things waiting to be created in a special way that only you can accomplish.
What expression of creativity is calling to you? Longing for others to hear it, or see it, through your eyes, your voice, your touch, your unique way.
Get yourself a bucket in the form of a pen, paint brush, sewing machine, or guitar, whatever type bucket you need to dip into yourself and pour out something, anything. Keep it to yourself or share it with a loved one. Throw it in the trash, hide it in a drawer or show it to the world.
You and I could create the same thing and they would still be different. Each of us brings our own unique touch, energy, vision to a thing.
Create.
If you don’t do it, that thing that is calling to you, will never be seen, heard, felt, touched, tasted, done. Maybe it’s a whisper you can barely hear, maybe it’s a shout that is screaming at you. Why are you ignoring it? Why are you hesitating? Maybe it will only mean something to you, maybe it will change the world.
Take a look at life The length is unimportant We have very little control Over the length But we can hugely impact The width and the depth The ripple effect of our choices Touching others Some of whom We may never know Our impact Reflecting Refracting Vibrating Choose wisely today Go deep Go wide Be your true self
Kingfisher, kingfisher. How beautiful you are. Reminding me of three generations of men I knew who all loved to fish.
They are all in heaven now my Grandpa, my Daddy & my son Derreck. I like to think they are enjoying such things together. Fishing and hunting and cooking and campfire talking, all together once again.
I know that’s just my flesh wishing. Unable to truly comprehend heaven I hold onto images that bring bits of joy, albeit tinged with pain. Understanding that they are all three free of the pains they suffered here and are now enjoying things I cannot imagine in ways hidden from us.
This I believe. They each now have whatever it was they were searching for in this life. Their hearts are full, their minds at peace.
Forget about tradition, religion, or what other people think. Your behavior, thoughts and actions are all up to you. Nobody else can answer for you. Centuries of generations have been raised on “what other people think” and look where that has gotten us.
God gave you a valuable resource that he did not give to any other creature. Your mind. Start using it.
It is uncomfortable to think differently than main stream society, or close friends. It’s as uncomfortable for them as it is for you. Do it anyway. Think for yourself. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Real independent thinking, is required to break free of herd mentality which has been programmed into all nations. It’s not complicated to think for yourself but it does require effort.
The heart is the greatest survivalist I have ever known. Continuing to beat when it is empty. Always believing life is worth living. With each beat willing us to believe, as it does, there is something left worth surviving for. We may not see it, but it is there, somewhere. Searching for us too. Waiting. Believing. Heart stubbornly beating.
