Wait on the Lord

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 KJV
Note to self: “Wait” is the key word in this scripture. Be still, don’t get in too big of a hurry. Listen, rest, refresh, renew. Then plow forward. If you fail to wait upon the Lord you may take the wrong path, forfeit His help and miss out on divine endurance.

Pray Dangerously

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8 KJV

What are you asking God for?

Through prayer

You have access to the Almighty

The One who created all things

He is the beginning and the ending

All knowledge resides in Him

All power resides in Him

Through faith and belief in Christ

The authority of God’s power

Transfers to you

What are you asking God for?

To keep you safe?

To help you have a nice day?

To help your team win?

To heal an illness?

Try asking him for something

More dangerous

Try praying like David

Search me, O God

And know my heart

Try me

And know my thoughts

And see

If there be any wicked way in me

And lead me in the way everlasting

Praying like this invites God

To have an intimate relationship

With you

It accepts that you acknowledge

His ability to know your thoughts

And love you anyway

It gives Him your permission

To enter your mind

The most dangerous place

For Him to be

The most powerful place

For you to allow Him access

Letting God into our heart

Is easy

But allowing Him into our mind

That’s true vulnerability

Yes, He has the ability

To enter our mind

At any time

But He allows us free will

And will only activate His Holy Spirit

When we invite Him in

Most of us only invite Him

Into our heart

We keep our thoughts hidden

Allowing darkness to lurk and play

Live dangerously

Invite God into your mind

Fair warming

Your thoughts create your reality

If you pray

Psalms 139:23-24

Earnestly

Sincerely

Your world will change

Which does not necessarily mean

It will get more comfortable

It’s your choice

You may stay with the safety

Of your regular daily prayers

Or you may choose

To live more dangerously

Ready me for daily battle

Lord

Forgive me of my sins

Forgive me my need

To ask you again and again

Help me be a good warrior

Hearing You

Following Your Word

This world gets so loud

Sometimes I allow it

To drown You out

Forgive me

Help me go where You say go

Help me stay when You say

Be still

Help me daily put on the armor

You have provided for me

And not forget a single piece

Help me skillfully wield

The sword of the Spirit

Give me eyes that see

Ears that hear

Divine knowledge

Understanding

Wisdom

Teach me Your ways

Let me not depart from them

May all those reading these words

Be hugged by You

Soften their hearts

Touch them in a real

And wonderful way

That they may know

You are the King of kings

Lord of lords

According to Your will

Amen

Prayer

Dear Lord,

As I begin this new week

help me to refuse any

invitations to argue, participate in drama, feel stress, or get tangled up in strife. Guide me in keeping the gate to my mind open and let all those invitations pass right on through without lingering. Allow Your wisdom and righteousness to enter in as I meditate on Your Word. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Happy Father’s Day!

It may seem silly to some that I chose to include You in the celebration of this national holiday. The world has gotten so good at trying to exclude You from all things, please for give us for allowing even the discussion of Your exclusion to occur. Thank You for Your grace and Mercy; Your love; Your generosity; Your Word and it’s interpretation through the Bible; Your Holy Spirit dwelling in me and anyone who believes.

You have lifted me out of dark places so many times, given me hope when it seemed like all was lost, comforted me, made me laugh, and filled my heart with unspeakable joy. You have shown me that what is Yours is mine, if I believe.

Help me Lord, show me how to make You smile, show me how to fill Your heart with joy.

I love You so very much.

Amen
