Existence

Longing for a time simpler

When life existed of

Basic chores

Gardening

Cooking

Cleaning

Neighborly acts

No scheduled meetings

No clock to punch

No negotiations

No analysis of facts

The mind is a master manipulator

Making us think we want more

When all we need

Are the basic chores

Not easily broken

This photo by Tabe Aulikki Slioor Knight of a sunset at Bishops Beach in Homer, Alaska inspired this poem:

What do you see

When you look at me

Three posts

Randomly stuck in the sand

Or a much bigger plan

Do you see

Family bound together by love

Supporting each other

As the waves of life

Ebb and flow

On the ever changing shore

Or

Do you see

We three

Spirit, body, mind

Bound together by awareness

Standing the test of time

Battling programmed consciousness

Or do you see

Chapter four

Verse twelve

Ecclesiastes

Be vulnerable

Trust the process

Evolving

Requires

Releasing

Releasing

Requires

Courage

Courage

Requires

Faith

Faith

Requires

Trust

Trust

Requires

Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A pre-requisite of

Evolving

Believe this

It will all be okay

In the end

Trust the process

Self Awareness

Trying to release the ego

And get to the center of

I AM

That place where the kingdom of God

Is within

Should be simple

But the ego mind is a fighter

It’s like a snapping turtle that latches on

Until lightning strikes

Try letting the mind go

Sit quietly

Releasing every conscious thought

Letting the awareness that

Sits in the center and knows

Come forward

The true self

Part of the Master Creator

As awareness rises

The mind will bring

All sorts of trivial chatter

To distract, manipulate, control

Anything to keep your attention

Because it knows

Wherever attention goes

Determines what exists

Without attention

The ego ceases to exist

So it jumps up and down

Grabs and hooks the attention

By any means

But one day lightening does strike

Releasing the jaws of the snapping turtle

Maybe it’s gradual an accumulation

Of consistent practices

Maybe it’s a profound instant event

But if the desire to know ones true self

Is strong enough

The lightening will strike

Understanding will light up the inside

From the place of deepest awareness

The transformation can be subtle

Or extremely obvious

Some onlookers may not recognize

The change in you

Too lost in their own ego mind

Some will find the change frightening

Unnerving them

That your triggers can no longer

Be triggered

A few onlookers will recognize

The source of your light

True self glowing with awareness

And will stand in awe

Wishing and hoping

One day they

Will experience the same

Seeing Red

Flexibility

Acceptance

Tolerance

Ebb and flow around me

Until you push too far

When

I’ve had enough

Then

Raw unbridled

Stubbornness

Takes hold

As I stand my ground

Solidly

Unyielding

Feet planted

Head down

Ready

For any maneuver

Your manipulative mind

Thinks it can get past me

So go ahead

Do your thing

I don’t mind

But

Push too far

A raging bull

You will find

Impulsive whisperings

Do you ever find

There are times

When your mind

Takes over

No matter what

You are caught

In actions wrought

Of discomposure

Your logical brain

Goes temporarily insane

Without constraints

As impulse spills over

Excitement at first

Quenches an age old thirst

For freedom and adventure

Resembling a perilous rollercoaster

Then reality rushes in

Bringing you down to earth again

Feeling sad and discontent

But thankful that it’s over

Ponder me

Every night

I leave a light on for you

Suspended in the sky

Visible to the eye

Even if you choose not to see

Every morning

I have the birds sing at dawn

To gently wake you

Even if you cannot hear them

Every day I have the waves

Move the tides in and out

Impacting the weather

All the time I regenerate the trees

Cleaning the oxygen you breathe

In billions of ways

I impact your life

Yet you seldom pause

To think about me

I am universal energy

Stingingly obvious

Sometimes we cradle busyness

Hanging onto it as if it were

Something precious

Falsely believing that if we

Are busy-as-a-bee

We are productive

When often it is irrelevant

And disruptive

Keeping us from

The really important things

In life

We pride ourselves on

Being able to multi-task

But what does it matter

Who really cares

That we can do multiple things

All at once

Busy

Busy

Busy

Leaving ourselves no time

To do even one

Really meaningful thing

What is impressive about that?

Holding onto busyness

Is like holding onto

A living bee

A bee cannot help it’s true nature

Hold it too tightly

It will sting

Busyness

Will do the same

Let it go

Take care of yourself

Visit your family

Talk with a friend

Those are the

Really important things

The meaningful things

In the end
